Alia Bhatt is super excited for her big screen debut with ‘Student of the year’ (SOTY), which releases this October. Here are the excerpts from Alia’s recent interview.

On her big debut with ‘Student of the Year’ : “I am so excited to have got this opportunity to work with Karan (Johar) sir. I am lucky that I passed the audition for the film Student of The Year. Debuting with Dhrama Productions… who wouldn’t like it? I play the role of a pretty damsel, Shanaya.”

On why she didn’t make her debut with a Bhatt film? : “My father (Mahesh Bhatt) would have liked to launch me, but I wanted to be debuting with someone other than my home production. It is a challenge to get work from an outside banner. Getting work from your father’s production house is easy.”

On losing weight for the film : “I was quite chubby before I decided to join films. However, I joined dance classes to lose some baby fat. I suppose thin but healthy should be the mantra. At present, I am just fine with my size which is lean and healthy,” says Alia.”

On working with Karan Johar : “Karan sir is a hard taskmaster when it comes to work. But at the same time he is a caring and kind fatherly figure to all of us. He did spoil us at times by pampering us. Working with him was like knowing the minutest nuances of cinema and acting. His sincere efforts helped us perform to the best of our ability.”

On whether she’ll venture into production or direction in the near future? : “At present, I am excited about this wonderful character in my debut film. I have to concentrate as an actor and give my hundred per cent to acting.”
