Delhi based designer Anju Modi has been finalised as the costume designer for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much talked about film ‘Ram Leela’.
An excited Anju revealed, “I got a call from Sanjay’s office a few months ago. They did their research before calling me and I was told that Sanjay was quite impressed by my work.”
The film is based in Gujarat, and Anju further said, “Every designer has their design sensibilities. I was picked because my work reflects the cultural heritage of Rajasthan and Kutch. I can also do a lot of different things but that won’t be truly me. I have kept the Indian-ness intact in my designs,” she says.
This would be the first that Anju will be designing for a film. Madhuri Dixit is one of Anju’s biggest clients, and she mostly wears Anju’s outfits at events and on her dance reality show.
