Looks like Bhansali’s hunt to find a suitable replacement for Kareena in his next ‘Ram Leela’ has ended on Deepika Padukone.
After Kareena Kapoor left the project, due to ‘contractual differences’, the filmmaker reportedly wanted Priyanka Chopra and later Katrina Kaif to play the role.
A source close to the film reveals, “Bhansali wanted an Alist heroine to play Leela. He approached Katrina but she did not have dates. Deepika was the only one with available dates for the project. Bhansali was only too happy to have her.”
Deepika has apparently allotted the dates for her other film to shoot for Bhansali’s ambitious project, which is based on Romeo & Juliet. The film in question is her Karan-Ekta project with Emraan Hashmi.
Whether she gets kicked out of the Karan-Ekta film is only to be seen in the near future.
Deepika will be paired opposite Ranveer Singh in this film.
