Not everyone is excited about Madhuri Dixit’s return to the big screen in the much anticipated filmDedh Ishqiya. Naseeruddin Shah, who appeared in Ishqiya, the original 2010 film co-starring Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi, says that he may not be in the sequel, despite the presence of theDhak Dhak girl.
“Madhuri is wonderful and I always thought her a marvellous actor and a real hot number as well,” he said. “I rate her among the greats and I am really looking forward to working with her. But I still don’t know that thing is going to materialise.”
This comes as a surprise, as the pair could well be a hit formula for the film. And it’s all the more surprising because just a few weeks ago the Maximum actor professed himself eager to work with Madhuri again.
“Madhuri and I have worked together before and I am her fan. I don’t know how many films of mine she has seen but I always thought she is a good actress and I am waiting to work with her again,” he said.
So why the sudden change of heart?
“I am a difficult actor,” Mr Shah quips.
Desh Ishqiya would have been Mr Shah’s fourth film with Madhuri Dixit. They’ve previously co-starred in Tridev (1989), Pankaj Parashar’s Rajkumar (1996) and M F Hussain’s Gaja Gamini(2000).
